KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS

EXCHANGE

Requirements
  1. Student must be degree-seeking at KU and meet all Financial Aid Progress requirements.
  2. The FAFSA form should be filled out listing KU as the first-choice school.
  3. Complete Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval form from the KU Registrar.
Process
  1. Student must give the Financial Aid Office an approved copy of the Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval Form.
  2. KU will process student’s aid.
  3. Aid is disbursed to KU—not to any other school—after the semester has started.
  4. Aid disbursed will be refunded to the student. Refunds are sent to student based on the preferences set up through Bank Mobile. www.bankmobilevibe.com
Notes
  • Student is completely responsible for paying travel, room, meals, and personal expenses.
  • Most scholarships and waivers of tuition can be used for exchange programs.
SHORT-TERM (ie. Costa Rica)

Summer
  • Student must be meeting all Financial Aid Progress requirements.
  • Students must fill out the Summer Financial Aid Form from the Financial Aid Office.
  • Students must be enrolled at least 6 credits (both sessions combined) in order to qualify for Stafford and PLUS loans, PHEAA State Grant, and certain private loans.
  • Stafford loans are subject to annual loan limits. Most students exhaust their loan amounts in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Summer aid will not be disbursed until after KU’s summer session starts. In some cases, it is advised that a student request additional loans for the fall and/or spring semester. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
Winter
  • Aid for winter term is processed for the fall semester.
  • Students may use any remaining Stafford loans that weren’t used for the fall and spring semester.
  • Students may take out an private alternative loan or have their parent apply for a Parent PLUS loan for the fall semester.
FACULTY-LED

Summer (i.e., Austria/Germany, Valladolid)
  • Student must be meeting all Financial Aid Progress requirements.
  • Students must fill out the Summer Financial Aid Form from the Financial Aid Office.
  • Students must be enrolled at least 6 credits (both sessions combined) in order to qualify for Stafford and PLUS loans, PHEAA State Grant, and certain private loans.

NON-KU PROGRAMS

Requirements

  2. The FAFSA form should be filled out listing KU as the first-choice school.
  3. Complete Permission to Study at Another College or Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval form from the KU Registrar.
Process
  1. Student must give the Financial Aid Office an approved copy of the Study Abroad Course Pre-Approval Form.
  2. KU sends consortium paperwork to the other school.
  3. When the paperwork is returned, KU processes student’s aid.
  4. Aid is disbursed to KU - not to any other school - after the semester has started.
  5. Aid disbursed will be refunded to the student. Refunds are sent to student based on the preferences set up through Bank Mobile. www.bankmobilevibe.com
Notes
  • Student is completely responsible for paying any other schools.
  • Not all schools participate in consortium agreements.
  • Most scholarships and waivers of tuition cannot be used at a school other than KU.
  • Amounts of aid may be adjusted due to cost differences between KU’s tuition and other school’s program costs.
